The Auburn Mountainview girls track and field team delivered the school’s first ever South Puget Sound League 3A title with a 87-54 win over Decatur on Thursday.
Junior Erika Lombardo dominated the sprint events with wins in the 100, 200 and 400-meter – with times of 13.12-seconds, 27.24-seconds and 1-minute, 30-seconds respectively.
Aalia Braboy added wins in the discus, triple jump and shot put, as well as a second-place finish in the high jump. Braboy’s 33-9 3/4 mark in the triple jump was a personal record for the junior.
The Lions finish the season with a perfect 5-0 dual meet record in the SPSL 3A.
The Auburn Mountainview boys were also victorious on Friday, knocking off the Gators 100-34.
Junior sprinter Victor Korchmniy finished first in the 100 and 200 with junior Saddye Melu grabbing first in the 400.
Chris Scharer also earned first-place finishes in the 1,600 and 800.
The Lion boys finish with a 3-2 league dual record.
The teams will travel to Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner for the SPSL/Seamount/Bremerton sub-district meet beginning at 3 p.m. next Thursday.
