Knotted at 39-39 after three quarters, the Lions (12-1 league, 16-3 overall) held the Seahawks (11-2, 14-5) to just seven fourth quarter points to put away the game and clinch the title at Auburn Mountainview.

Ryan Lacey led the way for the Lions with a game-high 20 points and junior Tristan Miguel added 13. Ki’Jan Weisinger and Robbie Wilson had eight points apiece, and Elijah Johnson contributed three points.

Austin Kingman led the way for Peninsula with 14 points, and Jimmy Ritchie added 10.

University of Washington commit JaQuori McLaughling, who scorched Auburn Mountainview for 38 points in the teams’ previous meeting (a 69-58 Seahawk win), was held to six points.

The Lions wrap up the regular season at 7 p.m. Friday with a road game against Enumclaw (5-8, 7-12).

The West Central District III 3A tournament starts Feb. 12 at Rogers, Clover Park and Puyallup high schools.
