The Class 3A’s third-ranked Lions held the Pirates to just one hit, with senior Shawn Guinn earning the win with a two-inning, five-strikeout performance. Senior Cody Wiseman had five strikeouts in two innings and junior Jared Gray added three strikeouts.

Auburn Mountainview (7-1 South Puget Sound League 3A, 12-1 overall) erupted for 15 hits with seniors Tony Serna and Nick Brooks producing two RBIs apiece. Josh Minton, Kekoa Nahaku, Guinn, Brandon Mozzone, Manveer Atwal and Brice McCulloch each added an RBI.

The Lions resume SPSL 3A play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bonney Lake.

Elsewhere

Auburn Riverside (4-1 league, 4-4 overall) maintained its hold on second place in the SPSL North 4A race with a 6-5 home win over rival Auburn (1-6, 1-10) on Friday.

Mitchell Grentz earned the win on the mound. Daniel Casanova, Justin Jacobs and Austin Marty added an RBI apiece for the Ravens, with Jacobs adding two runs and three hits.

Casey Manning and Jake Sloan fueled the Trojans with two hits and two runs apiece. Manning added an RBI.

Auburn Riverside travels to Mount Rainier (3-3, 4-3) at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Auburn travels to Kentwood (7-0, 10-1) at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
