Auburn Mountainview tightens hold on first with 4-1 win against Auburn Riverside | Girls tennis

The Auburn Mountainview girls improved to 8-0 on the season Monday with a 4-1 South Puget Sound League 3A victory at home against crosstown rival Auburn Riverside. The win improves the Lions league record to 7-0, first in the SPSL 3A. Auburn Riverside, third in the SPSL 3A, falls to 5-3 league, 6-4 overall.

Sierra Silva at No. 2 singles led the way for Auburn Mountainview with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Raven Kristi Nguyen.

In doubles play the Lions swept Auburn Riverside with No. 1 Lauren Kearney and Celeste Andreotti beating Carson Heilborn and Lindsey Sanborn 6-3, 6-3 and No. 2 Kathy Nguyen and Victoria Bolshakova defeating Jamilla Lope and Jennifer Giovanetti, 6-3, 5-8, 10-2 (in a tiebreaker).

In the No. 3 doubles match Lesya Kononov and Angie Andreotti beat Dianna Rarang and Angie Andretti 6-0, 6-1.

The Ravens sole victory came at No. 1 singles with Jessica Fulford beating Leanna Harris 6-4, 6-3.

The Lions will travel to Bonney Lake at 3:30 p.m. today to take on the Panthers (0-7, 0-7).

Auburn Riverside hosts Peninsula (4-3, 4-3) at 3:30 p.m. today.
