The Lions are off to their the best start in program history at 4-0 in league, 6-0 overall.

The Lancers dropped to 2-2 league, 4-2 overall.

Auburn Mountainview contained a Lancers offense that was averaging more than 42 points a game.

Gresch Jensen, a junior quarterback and defensive back, led the way with his fourth interception of the season, stopping the Lancers’ opening drive.

Auburn Mountainview also benefited from fumble recoveries from seniors Roman Grinchuk and Mika Kennar.

Grinchuk also had a sack, as did sophomore Bitner Wilson and junior Antonio Corea.

Senior linebacker Aeron Watson led the Lions with 10 tackles.

Jensen ran for 90 yards and a TD on 17 carries. Wilson had nine carries for 55 yards and a touchdown and senior Nate Hardin contributed 61 yards.

Juniors Gavin Robertson and Ryan Lacey each had four receptions for 42 and 56 yards, respectively.

Kicker Devon Tandberg booted a field goal in the contest.

The Lions host heralded No. 4 Peninsula (4-0, 5-1) at 7 p.m. this Friday at Auburn Memorial Stadium.
