The Auburn Mountainview doubles team of Sierra Silva and Victoria Bolshakova competes Friday and Saturday in the state 3A championship tennis tournament in Kennewick, courtesy of its 2-2 district performance.
The sophomores earned the No. 4 seed out of the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 Tournament this past weekend at Auburn Mountainview High School.
The duo won its first two matches before falling to North Thurston’s Ainsley Winterrowd and Sidney Smith 6-4, 6-0, relegating the girls to the consolation bracket.
In the battle for third place, the Silva and Bolshakova tandem fell 6-3, 6-4 to Enumclaw’s Mariah Bone and Kylee Almy.
The state 3A tourney is Friday and Saturday in Kennewick.
The Auburn Mountainview doubles team of Celeste Andreotti and Lauren Kearney and singles player Leanna Harris also competed at district.
Andreotti and Kearney dropped their first-round match, 6-1, 6-3, and met elimination with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat in the consolation bracket.
Harris left the tourney last Friday with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Peninsula’s Allie Barry in the consolation bracket. Harris also lost to Fort Vancouver’s Angelina Polina, 6-0, 6-2 in the opening round.
