Current Athletic Director Greg Herd announced his resignation as head football coach on March 20.

Auburn Riverside High School Athletic Director Greg Herd announced March 20 that he is stepping down from his position as head football coach of the Ravens.

Herd announced on his personal X/Twitter that he was stepping down with a caption “Forever Thankful:”

“It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing my resignation Head Football Coach at Auburn Riverside HS. Grateful for the players and families past and present that welcomed me in as a first time head coach. Their patience and grace has allowed me to grow into a better coach and person. The trust they put in our staff, and committing to the work we put before them helped us achieve numerous milestones for this program. Auburn Riverside and the Auburn School District have been so good to me these last five years. Giving me memories and lessons that I will carry moving forward in future journeys. Thank You!”

Herd took the Ravens to the state tournament back in 2023 for the first time in school history, snapping a 28-year drought. His overall record from the three game 2020 season to his final season was 22-18 at Auburn Riverside.

It is presumed that Herd will remain as athletic director at Auburn Riverside, and the search for the next head coach will begin soon.
