Auburn Riverside will play Capitol for 3A title | Prep volleyball

The undefeated No. 1 ranked Auburn Riverside volleyball team will face Capitol for the Washington State 3A title at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at Saint Martin's University in Lacey. The Ravens (35-0) defeated No. 2 ranked Columbia River 3-0 in the semi-finals with scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18.

The Ravens (35-0) defeated No. 2 ranked Columbia River 3-0 in the semi-finals with scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18 to advance to the championship game.

In the first set of the semi-finals, the Chieftains overcame a 9-3 deficit to pull within two points before Auburn Mountainview put them away by scoring the final five points.

Down 1-0 in sets, Columbia River challenged in the second set, tying the game at 23-23 before the Ravens put the game away with the final two points.

In the final set Auburn Riverside shot out to a 4-0 lead and remained firmly in control, posting a 25-18 win to clinch the set and match..

If the Ravens can put away Capital (30-3) in the championship match it will mark the first volleyball title for Auburn Riverside, who have been the top-ranked team in the state all season.
