Auburn Riverside senior Korey Krotzer capped his prep cross country career with a fourth-place finish at the state 4A cross country championship Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
Krotzer, who also finished fourth at last year’s 4A final, notched a personal-best 15 minutes, 18.5 seconds in the 5,000-meter race.
Wenatchee’s Jacob Smith posted a time of 15:03.00 to take home the 4A title. Mead’s Andrew Gardner was second with a 15:07.0 and Santos Vargas from Eisenhower was third (15:13.5).
Ravens junior Trevor Love was 53rd with a personal-best 16:23.5.
In the girls 4A competition, Auburn Riverside senior Rachel Atwood (pictured below) finished seventh with a time of 18:33.1, shaving two-tenths of a second off her previous best set at last year’s state meet.
Auburn junior Anna deCarteret was 80th with a 20:00.9 time.
In the boys 4A team competition, Gig Harbor edged Eisenhower 55-78 to take home the state title.
South Puget Sound League 4A champion Tahoma won the girls 4A team title with 88 points, outdistancing Bellarmine Prep’s 99-point team finish.
