The Auburn, Auburn Mountainview and Auburn Riverside cheerleading squads placed at this past weekend’s Washington State Cheerleading Championships at the Alaskan Airlines Arena at the University of Washington.
Auburn Mountainview led the way with a first-place finish at in the 2A/3A/4A Non-Tumbling Coed category. The Lions notched 71.5 points to edge Bethel, which had 63.75 points.
The Auburn Mountainview cheer squad competes at the National High School Cheerleading Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. The event will be televised on ESPN and ESPN2.
The Auburn Riverside squad won the 2A/3A Small category. The Ravens posted 70.5 points to beat Ballard’s 68.5-point performance.
In the 3A/4A Non-Tumbling Super-Large competition, Auburn finished second with 55 points.
Kentwood – Black took first place in the division with a 68.5 points.
This is the first time all three schools have placed at state.
