The Auburn boys tennis team improved to 9-4 in the SPSL North with their 5-0 win over Kent-Meridian this past Wednesday.
The Trojans swept the Royals (0-16), with No. 1 singles Jessie Fisher beating Mack Snider 6-3, 7-6 and No. 2 Tim Hartke defeating Morris Ong 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, Josh Jeter and Travis Hanley teamed up in the No.1 spot to beat Rory Jens and Tony Du 6-1, 6-1.
The No. 2 Auburn doubles team of Brandon Wilber and Brenton Millard beat John Nguyen and Timothy Ly 6-0,6-1 and No. 3 Jake Carson and Tyler Ball did not give up a point in their 6-0, 6-0 win over Edman Feng and James Eng.
ALSO: Kentwood (9-6) defeated Auburn Riverside 4-1 this past Wednesday. Conk Tucker Siegert improved to 8-3 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jared Shraeder in No. 1 singles. Kentwood also got wins in all three doubles’ competitions. Auburn Riverside’s sole win was Ian Downey at No. 2 singles, who won his match 6-0, 6-3. … Thomas Jefferson improved to 12-2 this past Tuesday, overpowering Tahoma (3-11) 4-1 on Oct. 14. Raider Joe Lee defeated Chris McCaffery, 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles. Jefferson swept the doubles matches, with No. 1 doubles Makoa Rosa and Kainoa Rosa defeating David Mahoney and Alex Costanzo, 6-1, 6-2 and No. 2 doubles Branden Muraki and Ty Garceau beating Mike Croft and Austen Hiatt, 7-5, 6-2. The No. 3 Jefferson doubles team of Brandyn Gomez and Anthony Tomyn were also victorious over Tahoma’s Gage Goranson and Griffin Wood, 6-1, 6-2. The Bears’ lone win came in No. 2 singles with Ryan Goranson defeating Kyle Creek, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
SOCCER: The Auburn Moutainview (4-2-0, 12 points in league, 8-3-1 overall) girls soccer team steamrolled Clover Park (0-4-0 league, 0-8-0 overall) in SPSL 3A action last night, blanking the Warriors 9-0.
Sydney Coleman led the Lions with three goals and an assist. Hannah Morse added two goals and Danica Collop chipped in with a goal and two assists.
Also scoring for Auburn Mountainview were Cherise Peters, Deanna Colburn and Jamie Byarly. Ali Clarkson, Cherise Peters, Kristin Herren and Hillary Frett added assists in the contest. Colburn and Jessica McAllister combined for the shutout in goal.
ALSO: The Auburn Trojans (2-8-1, 7 points) fell 4-0 to Kentlake (4-4-3, 15 points) this past Tuesday. … Jefferson (4-4-3, 15 points) fell to Tahoma (7-2-1, 22 points) 4-2 this past Tuesday. Jefferson scored on a Chelsea Jensen goal, with an assist from Lauren Jerde and on a Tahoma own goal in the first half. Tahoma’s Mollie Picha had two goals and Savannah Johnson and Tarah Duty each added a goal.
SWIMMING: The Thomas Jefferson swim team defeated Auburn Riverside 123-62 on Oct. 14. The Raider’s 200-yard medley relay team of Janice Huynh, Savannah Coe, Michelle Hogan and Amber Cratsenberg, posted a 2:00.73 finish to win their event. Jefferson also won the 400 freestyle relay, with Hogan, Huynh, Katie Labounty and Amy Davidson finishing in 4:07.44. Coe, Cratsenberg, Bailey Warrior and Rachel Ervin helped drive the 200 free relay team to first place with a 1:49.91 time. Also capturing first places for the Raiders in individual events were: Hyunh, 200 free, 2:10.17; Ervin, 50 free, 27.41; Cratsenberg, 100 butterfly,1:02.30; Ervin, 100 free, 1:03.62; LaBounty, 500 free, 6:05.97; and Hyunh, 100 back 1:07.66.
Auburn got first place finishes from Trisha Averill in the 200 IM and 100 back with 1:07.76 and 2:09.79 times respectively. Shawna Jordan also snagged a first for the Trojans with a 259.35 point performance in the diving competition.
