With new Head Coach Shane Onufer taking over the Auburn High School wrestling program, he is hosting the first Ben Celver Memorial Dual Meet against Bonney Lake on Jan. 10.

Celver was a former state champion at Auburn and wrestled for the U.S. Prep Academy at West Point.

He then came back to coach at Auburn as an assistant before leaving for Bonney Lake to be the head coach of their girls program from 2022-24.

Celver died over the summer, and Onufer wanted to honor the former Trojan in his first year as head coach of Auburn.

“We wanted to honor Ben by creating this event in his name between Auburn and Bonney Lake. His impact on the wrestling community won’t be forgotten. He was a veteran and a teacher at Bonney Lake up to the time of his passing,” Onufer said.
