Junior Alphonse Wade ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns as Auburn turned back crosstown rival Auburn Riverside, 21-14, in the final South Puget Sound League North 4A game of the season Thursday at Auburn Memorial Field.
Wade went the distance on runs of 12 and 61 yards as the Trojans built a 21-0 lead at halftime.
Senior quarterback Max Pratt also found the end zone for Auburn.
The Ravens came to life in the second half. John Hakala threw a 62-yard touchdown to Kameron Boardway and Jordan Moore scored on a 2-yard run.
Boardway led the Ravens in receptions with three catches for 70 yards and a TD. Hakala finished the game with 4-of-14 passing for 75 yards and 26 yards rushing on eight carries. Senior Connor Bjornstad led the Ravens in rushing with 57 yards on 16 carries.
Trojan senior Tarin McDonald had 57 yards on 11 carries and Pratt had 49 yards on 13 carries.
As a team Auburn piled up 302 yards of total offense, 286 rushing and 16 passing. The Trojans had 17 first downs in the contest.
Riverside amassed 205 yards of total offense, 130 rushing and 75 passing and nine first downs.
Auburn improved to 7-1 in league, 7-2 overall. Auburn Riverside dropped to 4-4 and 5-4.
Both teams now prepare for the postseason, with Riverside taking on Graham-Kapowsin in a pigtail game on Tuesday. The winner of that game will play the Wesco 4A No. 1 team next Saturday.
Auburn will take on the loser of tonight’s Edmonds-Woodway (3-1 league, 6-2 overall) versus Marysville-Pilchuck (3-3 league, 5-2 overall) game at 7:30 next Friday.
