Auburn senior Danny Shelton grabbed the 4A shot put title Thursday night at the Washington State Track and Field championships at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.

Auburn senior Danny Shelton grabbed the 4A shot put title Thursday night at the Washington State Track and Field championships at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.

Shelton notched a personal-best toss of 60 feet, 1 inch to grab the crown, outdistancing Brian Hutchison of Roosevelt, who had a throw of 58-8.75.

Auburn Riverside junior Korey Krotzer (pictured) competed in the 3,200-meter final, grabbing sixth with a personal-best time of 9 minutes, 14.19 seconds. The event was won by Lewis and Clark’s Kenji Bierig who posted a time of 9:01.71.

Auburn Riverside junior Rachel Atwood finished seventh in the 3,200, finishing the race in 11:00.42. Inglemoor’s Tansey Lystad was first with a 10:28.92.

The state championship meet continues today and concludes Saturday.
