Auburn’s Ariana Kukors will represent USA Swimming at the FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China, July 24-31. She will compete in the 200-meter individual medley.
In the last major international competition before the 2012 Olympic Games, USA Swimming will send 42 athletes to Shanghai. Olympic gold medalists Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin and Rebecca Soni will headline Team USA.
Kukors, an Auburn Mountainview graduate and Pac-10 champion at the University
of Washington, has a highly decorated national and international career in swimming. Among her many highlights is a gold-medal effort in the 100 IM at the 2010 FINA Short Course World Championships. She also took the bronze in the 200 IM.
She holds the world record in the 200 IM (2 minutes, 6.15 seconds), set at Fina World Championships Roma in July 2009.
