Auburn’s Rebecca Thareek, Cole Eberly and Avery Wade won spots on the podium at the state 3A track and field championship at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma this past weekend.

Thareek, a freshman, finished third in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches, and was fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 45.18 seconds.

Kamiakin went one-two in the race, with junior Heather Donais winning the race in 43.94, and senior Lindsey Schauble settling for second with a 44.16.

The Auburn girls finished in a four-way tie for ninth place with Wilson, Juanita and Bainbridge, all with 11 points. Kamiakin was first with 92 points.

In the boys finals, Eberly, a junior, was sixth in the 100 (11.22). O’Dea’s Myles Gaskin won the race in 11.02

Wade, a senior, capped his high school career with a seventh-place finish in the high jump (6-4).

The Trojans’ 400 relay team just missed out on the finals cut. Nathaniel Van, Malik Williams, Masai Matthews and Eberly posted the ninth-fastest time of 43.53.

The Trojans tied Shelton and Columbia River for 35th with five points.

Bellevue won the team title with 58 points.
