Auburn senior Sandy Dennett earned the No. 3 into the Washington State 4A tennis tournament with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Olympia’s Katelyn Orchard on Saturday at the West Central District 4A Girls Tennis tournament at Sprinker Recreation Center in Spanaway.
Dennett opened play on Wednesday with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gig Harbor junior Bronte Hopkins.
In the second round Dennett was dominant over Averi Kitsch, blanking the Thomas Jefferson senior 6-0, 6-0.
Dennett’s only loss of the tourney came at the hands of Central Kitsap’s Corrinne Wurden 6-2, 7-5.
Also moving on to the state tourney are the Auburn doubles team of Peyton Prothero and Karen Wentzke, who earned the No. 5 seed with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win over Jefferson’s Mackenzie Qualls and Caroline Min.
Auburn junior Sandi Mihaylova failed to advance to the state tourney, getting knocked out of the tourney with losses to Orchard, 6-3, 6-1 and Ashley Lucas of Tahoma, 6-2, 6-1.
The Washington State 4A Girls Tennis Tournament gets underway next Friday at the Tri City Court Club and Kamiakan High School in Kennewick, WA.

ALSO: The Auburn Mountainview doubles team of Maggie Henderson and Molly Henderson qualified for the Washington State 3A Girls Tennis Championships. Henderson and Henderson will kick off the tourney on Friday with a first round match against Anissa Bryant-Swift and Malia Lum of Sammamish.
