Auburn’s Tyler Tanner returns to Evergreen Speedway for the Coors Light Summer Showdown Super Late Models 200 around Monroe’s 5/8th-mile oval June 28-30.

Tanner, an Auburn High School graduate and engineering student at Arizona State University, will drive the No. 65 Tanner Motorsports Chevrolet sponsored by EF-65 Hand Cleaner, JT Mach and the Big Al Kids and Motorsports Foundation.

“This is an exciting time for our team,” Tanner said. “I feel good about returning to a track that has been so good to our family. This track holds many memories for my family with my dad (Kelly) having success in the NASCAR Northwest Touring Series to my mom (LeAnne) becoming the first and only NASCAR woman champion at Evergreen.

“I just want to do my best for my team and (sponsors).”

Tanner cut his teeth last summer on the famed track while qualifying for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. He came up with the second quickest time and a top-five finish.

Tanner recently returned home from his junior year at ASU, and has been busy with his crew preparing for the upcoming race. The team spent last month completely rebuilding the 2012 Hamke Chassis.

Tanner made his NASCAR Truck Series debut in 2011, and looks forward to more races in 2012.

Practice and qualifying for the Coors Light Twin 25 is June 28-29. The 200-lap race presented by NAPA Auto Parts is June 30.

“Evergreen Speedway is one of the Pacific Northwest’s fastest tracks and I am very excited to race there,” Tanner said. “I enjoy the speed, and the fans are phenomenal.”
