BOYS BASKETBALL: AR gets first SPSL North win over Tahoma, 68-59

Senior Dustin Hegge’s 20 points helped key Auburn Riverside’s 68-59 victory over Tahoma in the Raven’s first South Puget Sound League North 4A win of the season.

Auburn Riverside posted a 38-23 halftime lead and held on despite being outscored 36-30 in the second half.

Senior wing Ryan Rogers added 19 points and Cole Luckett had 13 points for the Ravens (1-1 league, 2-1 overall).

Tahoma (0-1, 1-1) was led by Christian Behrens who had a game high 27 points. Teammate Taylor Summerhays added 13 points.

Auburn Riverside will travel to Kentwood at 7 p.m. this Thursday to take on the No. 3 ranked Conquerors (1-1, 1-1).

ELSEWHERE: The Auburn Trojans (0-2, 2-2) were defeated 65-56 by the No. 10 ranked Kentridge Chargers (2-0, 2-0) on Tuesday. The Trojans were led by Iszia Johnson’s 15 points with Kevin Henderson adding 12 points and Nick Hammond 11. The Trojans will host Kent-Meridian (1-1, 1-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Auburn High School gym… The Auburn Mountainview boys fell to 0-2 on the season with a 82-53 loss to Franklin Pierce (1-1, 1-2) on Tuesday. Michael Patenaude had 17 points in the game and Neal Leatherman added 13. Franklin Pierce was led by Isaiah Hamlin’s game high 28. The Lions will pay White River (2-0, 2-3) at 7 p.m. this Friday in Buckley… Auburn Adventist (1-1 overall) fell 85-53 to Life Christian (3-1) in 1A boys basketball action in Tacoma this past Tuesday. The Falcons will host the Northwest School (1-1) at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at the Auburn Adventist Academy.
