Senior volleyball standout Megan McBride is Auburn Mountainview’s first student-athlete to earn a full-ride scholarship to a Pac-10 school with the recent signing of her letter of intent to attend Oregon State University next year.
McBride, a 6-foot-1 hitter, has been a four-year varsity letter-winner and the Lions’ MVP. She also was the South Puget Sound League co-MVP in 2006 and 2008.
McBride also led the Lions to three consecutive trips to the state tournament.
VOLLEYBALL: Lions honored with all-league selections
Five Auburn Mountainview volleyball players and Lions head coach Momi Bowles were honored with selections to the all-South Puget Sound League 3A team.
Senior Megan McBride was selected as league co-MVP. McBride shares the honor with Sumner’s Jocelyn Levig.
Mountainview’s Tara Patton, Tricia Patton and Alex Odren were selected to the all-league’s second team, and senior co-captain Krystle Hansen earned an honorable mention.
Bowles was honored with the Coach of the Year award, sharing the title with Sumner’s Mike Fitzpatrick.
BASKETBALL: 2 AR players sign letters
Nicole Jackson and Amanda Thomson recently committed to play basketball at the next level.
Jackson, an integral part of the Ravens’ championship runs the past two years at point guard, will attend Portland State University on a full-ride scholarship. Thomson, who transfered into Auburn Riverside this season from Kentwood, will attend Cal State Northridge.
WRESTLING: Auburn Mountainview hosts tourney
The College Duals will start at 10 a.m. Saturday at Auburn Mountainview High School,28900 124th Ave. SE.
The meet will feature college wrestlers, both men and women, from Pacific University in Oregon, Simon Fraser University, Yakima Valley Community College, Highline Community College and Douglas College in Oregon.
The event will follow a double-dual format.
