The Auburn Riverside girls basketball team turned in a strong defensive game to defeat another ranked team, beating Class 3A’s No. 1-ranked Kennedy Catholic 55-43 on Saturday at the Les Schwab Hoop Challenge at Bellevue Community College.
The Ravens (3-0 South Puget Sound League North 4A, 5-0 overall) set the pace early, outscoring Kennedy (3-1) 14-2 in the first quarter.
Riverside had four players finish in double-figure scoring, with Kat Cooper hitting for 13, Mercedes Wetmore for 11 and Brooke Hinkins and Taylor Wofford both finishing with 10 apiece.
Cooper and Wofford also added six rebounds apiece.
The Ravens travel to Kentridge (0-4, 0-5) for a league game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
