The Auburn Mountainview gymnastics team punched its ticket to the state 3A championships with a second-place finish at the West Central District III meet last weekend at Auburn Mountainview High School.
The Lions finished second to South Puget Sound League 3A rival Enumclaw, scoring 163.475 points to the Hornets’ 170.325.
The Lions were led by senior Natalie Hostetter, who was fourth in the all-around with a 34.775 score. Enumclaw’s Olivia Bannerot won the all-around with 36.775 points.
Hostetter was third in the bars with 8.25 points, seventh in the vault with a 9.125, and sixth in the floor exercise with a 9.1.
Teammate Sara Fiksdal finished 10th in the all-around with 32.375 points, and Hannah Houck was 12th with 31.775.
The Auburn Mountainview will defend its title at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall, with competition beginning Friday at 1:15 p.m. and ending Saturday.
