Tee it up for a good cause on April 29 at the Meridian Valley Country Club, which will host the second “First Tee Fundraiser Dinner & Silent Auction.”
The First Tee National School Program teaches life skills through the game of golf to elementary school students during physical education class. Two years ago, the Meridian Valley Country Club held its inaugural First Tee Fundraiser & Silent Auction and raised more than $100,000 for elementary schools in the Kent School District.
“It blew me away,” said Robyn Lorain, assistant golf professional at Meridian Valley Country Club.
The shotgun-style tee off is scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 29. The silent auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. and is followed by a 6 p.m. dinner. Up for auction items include wine, golf at Chambers Bay in University Place and a week stay in Arizona among others. More than 60 items will be up for auction.
Cost for the First Tee Fundraiser is $200, which goes toward lunch, dinner, a golf cart, a full round of golf and participation in the silent auction. Individuals also have the option of just taking part in the dinner, which is $40 per person.
This year’s proceeds will go toward paying for golf equipment for elementary schools in the Auburn School District.
