Muckleshoot Tribal grabs sixth at state 1B tourney | Prep boys basketball

The Muckleshoot Tribal Wolves ended their season with a sixth-place finish at the Washington State 1B Boys Basketball tournament, this past Saturday at the Spokane Arena. The Wolves (18-8) were unable to come back from a 52-16 deficit after three quarters, falling 62-36 to fourth-place Sunnyside Christian.

The Muckleshoot Tribal Wolves ended their season with a sixth-place finish at the Washington State 1B Boys Basketball tournament, this past Saturday at the Spokane Arena.

The Wolves (18-8) were unable to come back from a 52-16 deficit after three quarters, falling 62-36 to fourth-place Sunnyside Christian.

Senior Ryan Oldman finished with a team-high 12 points in the game, with freshman Luis Esparza chipping in with nine points. Senior Sean Taei finished with seven points.

Sunnyside Christian was led by Trevor Wagenaar’s game-high 33 points.

The Wolves finished the season with a 18-8 overall record, 11-4 in the Sea-Tac 1B Conference, where they finished second to Mount Rainier Lutheran.

The team loses six seniors including Oldman, who finished the season with a team-high 16.7 points per game. Also gone are seniors Preston Brown (11.8 ppg), Taei (10.8 ppg) and Joshua Cline (8.5 ppg).
