Pacific Raceways makes way for vintage sports car race opener

A large field of classic and vintage race cars is expected to fill the paddock this weekend as the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiast in the Northwest (SOVREN) takes over Pacific Raceways' historic 2.25-mile road course for its official season opener.

Racing action also will feature Racecraft’s Touring Car Cup – the under 2.5 liter challenge race – on Saturday and Sunday for small bore Trans-Am cars and FIA Group 1 and 2 Touring Cars up to 1972.

The track will be open Friday for test and tune and novice day. Spring Sprints racing on Saturday and Sunday will include Group 1 (Vintage, Formula Vs and select Historic Small Bore), Group 2 (Historic Small Bore), Group 3 (Historic Large Bore), Group 4 (Formula Cars, Sports Racer and Exhibition Cars) and Group 5 (Racecraft Touring Cup Cars).

This is the first of three SOVREN events at Pacific Raceways. The organization’s largest event – Pacific Northwest Historics – runs June 29-July 1. The vintage cars return for the Fall Finale Sept. 15-16.

Single-day admission for this weekend’s race is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 7 to 16. Two-day adult passes can be purchased for $15.
