The San Diego Padres selected Auburn’s Cody Hebner in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on Tuesday.
Habner, 20, a right-handed pitcher, was Baseball America’s No. 2 prospect out of Washington. He is former Auburn Mountainview High School and Green River Community College standout.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Habner was the 143rd overall selection in the amateur draft.
At Auburn Mountainview, Habner was the South Puget Sound League 3A Most Valuable Player. He also earned first-team all-state honors as a pitcher.
