Auburn Mountainview sophomore Kelly Campbell helped power the Lions’ boys golf team to a win over Lakes and North Thurston in 3A non-league play this past Monday with a 72-stroke medalist performance at Hawk’s Prairie Links.
Campbell – who finished 18th at state last season as a freshman – notched a par 72 on the course, defeating Lakes’ Ben Fosnick – who finished fifth at state last year – by one stroke.
Auburn Mountainview freshman Griffin Lamb notched a 77 stroke performance, tying with North Thurston’s Ben Reece. Garrett Light added a 85 stroke performance for Auburn Mountainview, with Chris Quick scoring a 86 and Brendan Byrne adding a 89.
As a team, the Lions scored 409 to Lakes’ 428 and North Thurston’s 447.
The Lions will host powerhouse Enumclaw at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
