TROJAN SUMMER CAMPS

Camps for BASEBALL and FASTPITCH are scheduled for June 23-27 at the Auburn High School baseball complex. Elementary-age players will meet from 9-11:30 a.m.; and middle school-age players will meet from 1-3:30 p.m. The cost is $115, and includes a T-shirt. Early registration is encouraged. The focus will be on offense, defense, speed training, throwing arm care, throwing programs, base-running concepts and position-specific instruction. The camps will be directed by coach Brian Embery. 5-TOOL SUMMER RESIDENT CAMPS

These camps for BASEBALL and FASTPITCH, conducted by Auburn High School and Evergreen State Sports, will offer three one-week sessions: July 20-24 (fundamentals for ages 8-14), July 27-31 (advanced fundamentals for ages 15-18) and Aug. 3-7 (fundamentals for ages 8-14). Camps will take place at the Brannan Sports Complex in Auburn, and campers will be housed and meals will be provided at Cascade Middle School in Auburn. AUBURN BASKETBALL ACADEMY

This academy for players in grades 3-8 begins April 14 at Auburn High School. The academy will run for four weeks on a Monday-Wednesday basis from 6:30-8 p.m. It will be directed by Auburn head boys coach Ryan Hansen and his staff. QUICK HANDLE SPRING ACADEMY

SOUTH ELITE ALL-STAR TRYOUTS

This organization, which practices at Kentwood High School and is the first team in the state to win a bid to the World Cheerleading Championships, will conduct tryouts in May for both new and experienced cheerleaders. Tryout dates are May 13 for Juniors, Youth and Minis (age 14 and under), from 6-8 p.m.; and on May 15 or Seniors (age 18 and under) of all levels, also from 6-8 p.m. South Elite also has new “Blue” level teams that offer a more affordable way to participate in all-star cheer. PUGET SOUND ANGLERS

The South King County chapter will meet on April 16 at 7 p.m. at the Des Moines Masonic Temple, 2208 S. 223rd St. in Des Moines. The guest speaker will be master fisherman Tom Pollack, who will offer instruction on how to catch shrimp and lings in local waters. FOOTBALL

PUGET SOUND FOOTBALL CAMP

This camp is for players who will be entering grades 4-9 in the fall. It is scheduled for June 30-July 3 at French Field on the campus of Kent-Meridian High School. It is a non-contact camp and runs from 9 a.m.-noon each day. It will be directed by Kentridge High head coach Marty Osborn, and the camp staff will include coaches from Kentridge and other area high schools and junior highs, as well as current Kentridge seniors and former players now in college. SENIOR REC LEAGUE

This recreation league, with an emphasis on fun, is being offered by Auburn Parks and the Auburn Senior Activity Center on Mondays at 9 a.m. from May 5-Oct. 27. Play will take place at Auburn Golf Course. The league fee is $10. Greens fees at Auburn are $15 for nine holes and $22 for 18 holes, and are payable at the course. Registration can be completed at the Auburn Senior Center. An informational meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at the Senior Center. KYSA SPRING LEAGUES

Registration for Kent Youth Soccer Association Modified and Recreational spring leagues is open. Modified leagues are offered in U-5 (coed) and U-6 through U-10 for boys and girls. The cost is $50.
