AUBURN PARKS ADULT SPRING LEAGUE
This is a call-your-own league for players age 18 and older, without officials, trophies or playoffs. Two leagues – National and Continental – will be offered. Teams will play a 10-game schedule, with National League games on Mondays from April 5-June 8, and Continental League games on Tuesdays from April 6-June 9, all at Green River Community College. The team registration fee is $150, and is due by March 3. The fee for teams registering after that date is $175. GEARING UP FOR FLY FISHING
This class on March 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the Kent Senior Activity Center will offer information on how to build a productive collection of fly patterns, essential knots, simplified tapered leaders and tippett, and important accessories. All participants will receive a resource notebook on when and where to go fly fishing. A POLAR BEAR TOURNAMENT is scheduled for Jan. 29-31 at Game Farm Park. Three divisions – A Division (upper), B Division (middle) and C Division (lower-recreational) will be offered. Teams are six-a-side, and are guaranteed three games in a round-robin format. All players must be 18 or older. The team entry fee is $285. The registration deadline is Jan. 6, or until filled.
An ADULT WINTER LEAGUE will be offered Feb. 21-March 21 on Sundays, and an ADULT SPRING LEAGUE will be offered April 11-May 16 on Sundays at Game Farm Park. All players must be 18 or older. Teams are six-a-side, and will play an eight-game schedule, with two games a day. (No games on May 9 in the spring league.) Three leagues – American, National and Continental – will be available in both leagues. Division winners advance to playoffs. The team entry fee is $600. The focus will be on fun and the opportunity to work on some gymnastics skills. Campers should bring their own lunch each day. The cost is $100 for Auburn residents and $125 for non-residents. This recreational league offers a variety of levels of play to match numerous ability levels. Teams will play two games per night (except coed Continental League), and will play a 10- to 16-game schedule, depending on league and night of play. Players must be 18 and older. All leagues go from mid April to mid June. Team registration fees vary by league. A mandatory league coaches meeting is scheduled for March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation office, 910 Ninth St. S.E., and any team that does not have a team member present at the meeting will be assessed a $50 fee. The sponsorship fee of $195 assists in the following ways: purchases t-shirt and hat uniforms with the sponsor’s name and logo on the front; subsidizes the cost of playing equipment; and helps keep registration fees affordable. Benefits to the sponsor include exposure to the community with the sponsor’s name on uniform, schedule, and league standings. Sponsors receive; compliments of the league an 8″x10″ photo plaque to proudly display in their business, and the satisfaction of helping Auburn children enjoy a positive recreation experience. The pool,, located adjacent to Auburn High School at 516 4th St. N.E. offers several programs. PUBLIC SWIMS are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7-8 p.m., Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. ($3 for adults, $2.50 for children and seniors, or $9 for a family). LAP SWIMS are offered Monday through Friday from 6-7:30 a.m. and noon-1 p.m.; Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8-9 p.m. ($4 adults, $3.50 children and seniors), and Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. ($1 for everyone). LESSONS are offered on a Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday basis, with upcoming sessions set for Jan. 4-28, Feb.1-25 and March 1-25.
