Once again the Auburn Riverside track and field program proved their mettle, moving on 11 athletes out of the West Central District III 4A meet to this week’s Washington State 4A track and field championships.
Senior Kenny Krotzer qualified in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs, grabbing fourth in the 800 with a 1-minute, 53.59-second time, and second in the 1,600 with a 4:13.99.
Also moving on in the 800 is senior Madison Allen who was fifth with a 1:56.23.
Korey Krotzer also qualified for the state meet with a sixth-place finish in the 3,200 with a 9:33.77.
In the girls distance events, sophomore Rachel Atwood and freshman Cassidy Brown grabbed a one-two finish in the 1,600, with Atwood coming in first at 5:08.10 and Brown second with 5:09.39.
Atwood also qualified with a second-place, 11:08.23 finish in the 3,200.
Brown also punched her ticket to state in the 800 with a first-place 2:15.98 finish.
Senior leaper Wilfred DeLaRosa grabbed spots at state in both the triple and long jump. DeLaRosa was second in the long jump with a 21-foot, 11.50-inch and fourth in the triple with a 43.00.00.
In the 300 hurdles, sophomore Andrey Zadneprovskiy was fifth with a 39.86 time.
Also moving on for the Ravens are Brandi Williams and Ali Rodseth, who were fifth and sixth in the long jump with a 17-01.50 and 17.00.75, respectively.
Rebecca Turnbow was second in the pole vault with a 11-00.00 vault and Elise Jones grabbed fourth in the high jump with a 5-02.00.
The Raven boys finished fourth in the team competition with 39.25 points. Federal Way and Kent-Meridian were tied for first with 66 points apiece.
The Riverside girls were third with 56.5, with Tahoma grabbing first with 77 points.
The Washington State 4A Track and Field Championship Meet begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma. For schedules and more information visit the Washington State Interscholastic Activities Association track and field Web site.
ALSO: Auburn throwers Danny Shelton, Nick Conlan and Alfredo Figueroa also qualified for the state 4A meet in their events.
