Shelton’s shot put title leads Auburn to 12th-place 4A team finish; Auburn Riverside’s Andrey Zadneprovskiy leads team with fourth-place finish in 110-meter hurdles | Boys Track and Field

Auburn senior Danny Shelton capped his prep athletic career with a first-place finish at the Washington State 4A Boys Track and Field Championships this past weekend at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.

Auburn senior Danny Shelton capped his prep athletic career with a first-place finish at the Washington State 4A Boys Track and Field Championships this past weekend at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.

Shelton tossed a career-best 60-foot, 1-inch toss at the meet to grab the shot put title.

In addition, Shelton finished 11th in the discus with a throw of 142-8.

Teammate and fellow senior Nick Conlan grabbed third in the discus with a throw of 157-11. The event was won by Ferris’ Damon Unland (162-6).

Auburn senior Max Pratt was fourth in the javelin (192-6) and Alfredo Figueroa finished second in both the wheelchair shot put and wheechair discus with throws of 9-9 and 22-7, respectively.

The Trojans finished tied for 12th in the team race with Lewis and Clark and Ferris, all with 20 points.

ALSO: The Auburn Riverside boys eked out a 28th-place finish at the 4A meet with nine points. Junior Korey Krotzer was sixth in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9 minutes, 14.19 seconds. Krotzer also finished 11th in the 1,600 with a 4:24.26. Junior Andrey Zadneprovskiy (pictured below) was fourth in the 110 hurdles with a 15.32 finish and Dylan Brown was eighth in the 800 with a 2:00.22. Senior Deon Johnson was 12th in the long jump (21-1 1.2).
