The Tacoma Stars are set to open the 2016-17 season at home at the ShoWare Center on Saturday, Oct. 29 against Soles De Sonora, the club announced today.
The season opener will kick off the Stars’ second season competing in the Major Arena Soccer League. The remainder of Tacoma’s 2016-17 season schedule will be released at a later date.
“The Tacoma Stars fans at the ShoWare Center were amazing this past year, and we are looking to putting a product on the field that they can be proud of again this winter,” Stars Head Coach and General Manager Darren Sawatzky said. “We are in the business of winning games, and that is the plan with our home opener on Oct. 29.”
The Stars will look to build on their successful first season in the MASL in 2015-16, a campaign that was highlighted by an electric playoff run and a slew of weekly player awards. Following the conclusion of the season, Sawatzky was named MASL Coach of the Year, while goalkeeper Danny Waltman was honored as MASL Goalkeeper of the year.
