STATE WRESTLING: Auburn Mountainview’s King, Peretti take third

It has been a historic wrestling season for Auburn Mountainview.

For the first time on the wrestling circuit, the fourth-year school showed it belonged among the heavyweights.

The Lions showed as much on Friday and Saturday during Mat Classic XXI.

Auburn Mountainview advanced a school-record 10 wrestlers to the state tournament and brought home four individual medals, including three third-place finishes.

Leading the pack for the Lions were Tyler King (third at 135) and T.J. Peretti (third at 130). Isaac Tadeo (152) and Kristian Agemotu (215) added seventh-place finishes for the Lions.

Lilia Gudzyuk led the way for the Lions in the girls tournament, taking fifth.
