Trojans’ 4A state regional playoff game moved to Shorewood High School

Student contracts coronavirus virus at Jackson High, original site of game

The spreading coronavirus has jumbled the site of Auburn’s 4A state regional basketball playoff Saturday.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association on Friday moved Auburn’s first-round regional playoff against Glacier Peak of Snohomish from Jackson High School in Mill Creek to Shorewood after a Jackson student tested positive for the virus.

Tipoff is 6 p.m. at the Shorewood High School gymnasium in Shoreline.

“Due to the recent closure of Jackson High School, the WIAA Regional basketball games scheduled to be played at the facility on Saturday, February 29 will now be played at Shorewood High School,” the WIAA said in a statement released Friday. “All game times will remain as originally scheduled. WIAA Staff have been in communication with the Washington Department of Health and will continue to receive guidance in order to ensure the safety of those involved with WIAA state events.”

Closed Jackson High School school was being sanitized.
