Week’s Best Preps

AVERI KITSCH

AVERI KITSCH

JEFFERSON

Grade: Sophomore.

Sport: Tennis.

Accomplishments: Kitsch and Mackenzie Qualls won their first two girls doubles matches in the 4A state tournament last weekend and went on to bring home fifth-place medals.

Favorite class: Math, and chemistry.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve?: I would invite a variety of people, such as tennis players Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi and Max Manthou, and influential people such as Bill Gates, Aung San Swkyi and lastly, Janice Dickinson. I would serve them all dessert, because after all they have done, they deserve a reward.

Also noted: Kitsch has a 4.0 grade-point average, is involved with Jefferson’s math team, and took fifth place in the state in geometry.

MACKENZIE QUALLS

JEFFERSON

Grade: Sophomore.

Sport: Tennis.

Accomplishments: A week after slipping into the last state-qualifying berth from the district tournament, Qualls and Averi Kitsch won a pair of split-set matches on the first day of state and wound up earning the fifth-place medal for girls doubles.

Favorite class: Math, and racquet sports.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve?: I would invite Andy Roddick and Matt Overland. I would have a barbecue because I love being outdoors, and would serve traditional American food – cheeseburgers, hot dogs and potato salad.

Also noted: Qualls has a 3.87 grade-point average in the academically-challenging International Baccalaureate. She also plays volleyball and was on the state bowling team. She helps coach her sister’s soccer team, and wants to attend USC “because that’s my favorite football team.”
